Rise of Flight War Tournament Setup and Rules

Rise of Flight War Tournament Rules

The Rise of Flight War Tournament is designed to be simple and fun for beginning and intermediate skill level pilots; and the server is set up accordingly (it is not full realism / hardest settings).

Neither fighters nor bombers can win this tournament by themselves; it will take the combined cooperation of the bombers and fighters working together in order to win.

All Rise of Flight pilots are welcome, both squadron pilots and independent pilots. You do not have to be a member of a squadron in order to fly in the Rise of Flight War Tournament. Pilot sign up is at the US95th Aero Squadron forums: http://us95th.org/phpBB3/ A TeamSpeak3 server is provided for voice communications by both teams, with 5 seperate rooms for the German team and 5 seperate rooms for the Allied team. There is a seperate forum section for the Rise of Flight War Tournament located at the US95th Aero Squadron forums, including private/restricted forum threads for team planning: http://us95th.org/phpBB3/

Total pilots will be limited to 16 pilots per side / 32 pilots total (16 German pilots and 16 Allied pilots) for the first match of the Rise of Flight War Tournament. If the server gameplay for the fist match is smooth and stable, pilot numbers will be increased for matches 2 and 3.

The Rise of Flight War Tournament will consist of 3 matches, each match to be fought on a separate weekend day. Each tournament match will run for 3 hours, or end earlier if all enemy targets have been destroyed by the opposing team. If a tournament match ends without a team destroying all of the enemy targets, that match will be considered a draw. The tournament will be won by the team with the most wins out of the 3 scheduled matches. If neither team wins any of the 3 scheduled tournament matches, a sudden death tournament match will be scheduled.

Rise of Flight War Tournament 1 Schedule:
1) Match 1 - Saturday, May 7, 2011 1pm Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) until 4 p.m. Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) or end earlier if all targets have been destroyed by the opposing team.
2) Match 2 - Saturday, May 14, 2011 1pm Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) until 4 p.m. Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) or end earlier if all targets have been destroyed by the opposing team.
3) Match 3 - Saturday, May 21, 2011 1pm Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) until 4 p.m. Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) or end earlier if all targets have been destroyed by the opposing team.
5) Sudden Death Match - to be determined (if needed)

The matches will start at 1 p.m. Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) and run until 4 p.m. Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time) or end earlier if all targets have been destroyed by the opposing team.
You can check the current Eastern U.S. daylight savings time by going to one of these web sites:
1) http://us95th.org/
2) http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5/java
3) http://www.worldtimezone.com

The RoF War Tournament map will be a customized version of the Lake map.

The objective of each tournament match is to destroy the various enemy targets, which are:
1) the 8 factories of the target factory area
2) the 3 observation balloons
3) the supply ship
4) the supply train
5) the supply truck convoy (6 vehicles)

Some of the targets, such as the observation balloons, supply trains and supply truck convoys can be destroyed by fighters; however, the bombers will be needed to destroy the 8 factories and the supply ships.

The factories, balloons and ships are protected by AA (artillery, machine guns or both). The aerodromes are heavily protected by AA (artillery and machine guns).

The fighters available in the RoF War Tournament will be those fighters available in Rise of Flight Iron Cross Edition of the game.

The bombers available in the RoF War Tournament will be the Handley Page 0-400 (Allied), Gotha G.V (German) and DFW C.V (German). All of the bombers have to be purchased separately from 777 Studios in order to fly them. However, anyone can man one of the machine gun turrets of the bombers without owning them.

NOTE: All aeroplane fuel/ammo/bomb loads can be changed by the pilot in the hangar room upon choosing the plane model when entering the server.
