S! all, I had emailed RoF support asking for the various checksums of the RoF Demo 1.020 torrent download.

Viks responded with the following (thanks Viks):
Hi!

MD5 is:
39309f134628c4948afc1a754100d04f

Once I had the MD5 checksum to verify my RoF Demo 1.020 file I downloaded, I then calculated the SHA1 and SHA256 checksums of the Rof Demo 1.020 torrent download (ROF_FORWEB_1020.exe).

For those interested, the checksums for the RoF Demo 1.020 torrent download are:

ROF_FORWEB_1020.exe (name of the RoF Demo 1.020 torrent download)

MD5 checksum is - 39309f134628c4948afc1a754100d04f

SHA1 checksum is - b990a208c301c66b3330059db1424445f318481f

SHA256 checksum is - 1ddf59ea99da3c9939f1c51ab9c21a143590956e582fe54648fe4f6b07d11b9f

You can use the checksums listed above to verify your demo download is correct and not corrupt. There are numerous checksum software programs for Windows (it's already available in Linux); do a Google search for "checksum software windows" and you will get a list of checksum programs, including a command line version from Microsoft.

S! all, Vampire, a checksum is basically a alpha-numeric code/size of a file (any file) that can be used to make sure that file, at a later date, has not changed.

It is ideal for making sure that a downloaded file is not corrupt or hacked or changed from the file that was originally created.

For example, the RoF Demo 1.020 download which is approximately 3.7 GB in size. By knowing the original checksum size of the RoF Demo 1.020 file, after you finish downloading the file, you can run a checksum of the downloaded file (using a checksum software program) and compare its checksum size to the original checksum size of the original file. If the two checksums match, then you know that your downloaded file is OK and hasn't been tampered with and no part of it was corrupted while being downloaded (which can happen on such a large download).

It can save you a lot of hassle troubleshooting because you know from the start that the file you downloaded is correct and that no part of it has been corrupted or hacked. It is not unusual to download a large installation file and install it on your computer, only to have problems with the installed program because a part, even a very small part of the downloaded program, was corrupt during the download.

Hope this helps :D
